I want to take cold backup on Oracle 8i. Is it enough to take all datafiles except TEMP datafile and control file. Or redo log files and TEMP datafile also should be included ?

When all else fails try Reading The Fine Manual
http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/A87860_01/doc/server.817/a76993/toc.htm
While you are at it, you should upgrade to a supported version of Oracle RDBMS.

When we go for a cold backup,we have to take the backup of datafiles, redolog files and a control file as well.No need to take temp file backup.

In cold backup you only need to copy the datafiles and control files, and i think there is no need to copy the log files as oracle does not recommend this. Before taking cold backup you need to shutdown the database properly not abort.

Indeed the log files do not need to be backuped because all the changes have been commited and writen to the datafiles. The cold backup is seen as a full backup, you will only backup the log files if you are working with archive log. And after every full backup you can clean up the old log files.

A copy of your param file is not necessary, but nice to have.

ps: 8i can work with archive log, but not with RMAN I believe
