Hi,
We have a production db server (9.2)and a develop db server.
Each night, once the Hot backup is finished on the prod db server, the dev db server is duplicated. This is done by coping ALL datafiles + archived logs to the dev db server and use the control file to recover.
My question:
Does it work to copy the archived logs ONLY from prod db server to the dev db server and recover ? Please note we donot want to set up a hot standby server.

No it wont, in case you do not plan to have a standby database.
