Well, I’m stuck in implementing RMAN n just wonder what to do?
I’m having my target database on Sun Solaris and RMAN takes backup on the same server on its default location.

In fact I have created a new database RMAN which is on windows n want my target database backup on the same window machine. Will you please tell me how can I tackle with this problem.I'm able to change the location of backup on the same server that of target database(Sun Solaris)but want it on Windows server.
Seeking for your help...
Its urgent!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks in advance.

I can recomend You this document. It is good for getting started.(Original is from Metalink)

ModEdit:
Metalink Documents are proprietory for Metalink Users.
It would be a copywrite violation to post those documents anywhere else. Just refer to the document 120084.1

Not sure what you are looking into.
Are you looking to backup your target database (in Sun) using an RMAN catalog database (in windows) and store the backupsets locally to RMAN catalog (in windows)?

Why? what is the whole idea?
RMAN backupsets are OS dependent and RMAN will create the backupsets to a local filesystem (or something it can see as local).
So if the OS are same, you can NFS mount /Share the remote filesystem ( from catalog database) to the database server and RMAN will write those backupsets to the share.
If the filesystems are different (unix/windows), You cannot do it (Unless you use something like Samba, which you may want to avoid in this case).
