hi
can anyone tell me, while configuring rman catalog we edit the cmdfile and pass this as parameter when connecting to rman.My doubt is we have already given the allocation type to disk in cmd file,so is it necessary to write allocate channel to disk ....when we take database backup thru rman.
i hope my question is clear to answer..

You can assignt the DISK_TYPE every time or
set it by default using CONFIGURE command.
Look into documentation/search the board.
