1. Discover all the nodes where the databases you will be using.
2. Set the preferred credentials for the databases and the nodes
(These are the passwords you will use to log on to the databases and the servers.) You will also have to make sure that the node user on windows servers has the right to long on as a batch user.
3. Then decide whether you will use RMAN with a recovery catalog
4. ON 9i unlock the RMAN user.
5. Right click the database you want to create a backup of and go to the backup management section and follow the prompts.

Refer to the Oracle Documentation in otn.oracle.com, this has a wealth of knowledge and answers for all your configuration concerns.

Check your OMS.log.
Is there a VNI-2015 or related?

The preferred credentials are the passwords for the window servers log in, preferrably one with administrator priviledges and the right to log on as a batch user. The preferred credentials for the database is the sys user. The preferred creditials are set under 'Configuration>Preferences>Credentials.

Find the node or database you are configuring and put in the appropriate information in the spaces provdided by the GUI interface. If you have more problems...feel free to email me and we can set up a time and I will walk you through it.
