Hi everybody,

I am planning to set up a backup strategy using RMAN for a huge database around 500GB.

Please anybody suggest a good plan for a week basis.

Suppose i am planning to take a full backup on Monday.
What is the best for the rest of the week.
Backing up of archive logs alone or an incremental backup also inbetween.

Expecting your reply soon.

cheers

Hi,

If I were you, I would do a daily full backup with periodic archlog backups.

RMAN ignores empty blocks, so the backup size will be much smaller. If you are running on 10g, you may also want to enable backup compression to reduce the backup size even further.

Best regards.
