Hi,
I have an RAC DB with Flashback Area and
the Parameter for log_archive_dest1='location=USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST'
the log_archive_format=arc_%s_%t_%r.arc.
I start using flashback and do an alter system switch logfile.

I wonder that the archive_format is not like insside the spfile
log_archive_format=arc_%s_%t_%r.arc!

It seems that Oracle uses his own format.
Is this correct ?

regards

Stefan

Check out this link, what ii %r in the format? That could be the problem.

Hi,
may be my description is not exact.
It seems that if you use the USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST clause for the the log_archive_dest1 parameter the format will be fixed given
by Oracle and you have no chance to use your own format like
arc_%s_%t_%r.arc !
The %r is new in Oracle 10g which we use
and %r means : "resetlogs ID that ensures unique names are constructed for the archived log files across multiple incarnations of the database"!
So the question is:
Is it possible to give an LOG_ARCHIVE_FORMAT in 10g if you use
USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST for log_archive_dest1 ??

regards
Stefan
