create a batch file for exporting database then set it on the windows scheduler to run the file every friday at 2:00.

HI

That way you will be taking the logical backup of database.

First you need to decide what type of backup you want to have & how you want to perform this backup. Whether you want logical backups or physical backups.

If you want user managed physical backups, then are you planning hot backup or cold backup?... Batch files containing backup scripts will do for this. In later case...cold backup... you will be reuired to shutdown the database as well using those scripts itself.

If you are going to use RMAN for backup then windows scheduler need not be configured. This backup timing configuration can be done at RMAN level.
