All,
How are you? I have a question. My full database cold backup runs every night at 2 a.m and service doesn't start until 9:40 a.m Back is very slow. Can any one give any suggestions to speed up the process?

Thanks,
Rick

Cold backup is merely copying ur database files onto backup device. This device can be tape or disk.
Since it involves use of OS utility for copying files, better is to tune the I/O for the system.

Well.. r u taking backup on tape or disk??

If its tape... its bound to be slow due to limited write capacity of tape drive.

if its disk, try to use heavy i/o intensive disks.
