Hi,

You cannot import a 10g datapump dump into an Oracle9i database as the file formats are different. Datapump can only be used with Oracle10g (or higher) versions of the database.

The standard imp/exp utilities can be used with 9i (and earlier) as well as 10g databases.

Best regards.

First, please read the "Oracle Database Utilities" manual (chapters 1 to 3) and try to get it working yourself. If you have any specific problems or questions, let us know.

Best regards.

hi frank

I think their will be a way to do that. becoz we use to do in 8i and 9i backword compatibility. u just have to do use the 8i imp/exp utility in 9i and take the exp of it and apply that imp in 8i. i m not sure in 10g just try it....

Thanks

Ajay, no offense, but it seems like you are the one that never worked with 10g before. The file formats are different! If you can make them compatible, please let us know how.

$ oerr ora 39143
39143, 00000, "dump file \"%s\" may be an original export dump file"
// *Cause: A dump file was specified for an import operation which appears
// to have been created using the original export utility. These
// dump files cannot be processed by the Data Pump import utility.
// *Action: Try using the original import utility to process this dump file.

Best regards.
