Hello
I took over recently a Oracle system (7.3.3 on SCO OpenServer5.) that had encountered a disk crash before.
During database startup the following messages were displayed:
ORA-01113: file 3 need media recovery
ORA-01110: data file 3: '/usr2/lagos2'
ORA-01110: data file 3: '/usr2/lagos2/ts_idx_1.dbf'

I did
SVRMGR> recover database;

and got the following response:
ORA-00283: Recovery session canceled due to errors
ORA-00354: corrupt redo log block header
ORA-00353: log corruption near block 370 change 10024096 time 10/08/04 16:33:49
ORA-00312: online log 2 thread 1: '/usr2/lagos2/log2.dbf'

What is the next step from here in order to recover the database.
(I was told the last database datafiles backup in tape was one year ago).

Regards
CS Tan

You can use the option of

recover database until cancel;

However I am not sure whether this works for Oracle 7 as you have mentioned.
