I'm testing duplicating our production database to a (remote) test server (w/different file structure) using RMAN's duplicate.  I've read the documentation, so, I know this is sort of a paranoid question, but, b/c the target database is 24/7 production I want to make sure there are no "gotchas" when duplicating to an auxiliary.  We had a bad experience with our old backup system (3rd party tool) when testing a restore -- it restored to our production server.

I'm guess I'm just looking for a little assurance that duplicating from an up and running production database to a remote auxiliary server should pose no pitfalls/dangers for the existing production database.

Thanks.
