1) What is process for the BackUp & Recovery
of the Oracle database.

2) The backup should be compatible with any type
of databses.Example of different type of
database will be Oracle, Sybase, MySQL, MSACCESS, etc.

every database will have its own method / utilities for backup.
the base consept is cold or hot backup.
cold is simple. shutdown the database and a copy all the directory strcuture to somewhere...just an OS backup.
hot backup methods vary with different vendors. Idea is to keep the datbase up and available and perform the backup.

Legato has adequate modules for on-line backups for all main databases (Oracle, SAP R/3 on Oracle, MS Exchange, MS SQL, DB2, Informix, Lotus Notes).
