Hi,

ERROR:
ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown inprogress
I am using Oracle 8i.
I got the above when I tried to log in to oracle. I tried all the possible
recitification solutions but those are all invain. When I logged in SVRMGRL
and typed "startup force" I got the following message.
Total System Global Area 260838668 bytes
Fixed Size 70924 bytes
Variable Size 70127616 bytes
Database Buffers 190562304 bytes
Redo Buffers 77824 bytes
Database mounted.
ORA-0122: database file 9 failed verification check
ORA-0110: data file 9: 'C:LAND.DBF'
ORA-01251: unknown File Header Version read for file number 9
and then getting the SVRMGR> prompt only.

How to rectify the above problem. Thanks in advance. Any suggestions
regarding the above problem are appreciated.

with regards
Kiran

did you rename / move /drop your datafiles?
'C:LAND.DBF' is an invalid entry in controlfile.
restore the database from backup.
or
if it is ok to loose the data, drop this file and tablespaces

The datafile may be corrupted or deleted. Is the database open.

Hi,

Either you have accidently copied just the c:land.dbf file from earlier backup with current controlfile or your data file is corrupted. drop the tablespace or recover it for earlier backup

good luck
